At Pendleside Hospice, we provide a variety of specialised support services for people, and their families and carers, living with dementia.
We provide 8-12-week guided programs, each one aimed at different levels of dementia diagnosis, as well as personalised care from our Admiral Nurse.
We offer a range of support services including weekly dementia support groups, carer support groups, and assistance with new and early diagnoses. Our services also include practical care, hospice at home support, family support and counselling, and advance care planning guidance
We provide expert help with symptom control and specialised support from our dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, ensuring that both patients and families receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs.
Any patient or carer who has been identified with complex needs will be referred to our Admiral Nurse who specialises in supporting people living with dementia and their carers.

Dementia Support Groups at Pendleside
More than 2,300 individuals living in Burnley and Pendle have been diagnosed with dementia. We’re here to offer individualised support to help those in our community who are living with dementia.
Our dementia support groups include exercise, fun activities, guest speakers, advance care planning, memory strategies, activities for the mind, understanding the diagnosis and different medications, with each program ending with a music and celebration event.
You can also get involved with our Music Cafe, which takes place every other Wednesday, which has shown to improve the quality of life by lifting mood, reducing anxiety and helping participants to interact with others in a positive way, with no negative effects recorded.
Our dementia strategy for 2025 -2030 outlines our vision, mission and objectives for the next five years, and how we plan to deliver this.
This strategy has been developed by our Dementia Strategy Group, which includes; people with lived experience of dementia, employees, and volunteers of Pendleside Hospice.
Rachel Moroney, Admiral Nurse at Pendleside Hospice
