Community Engagement

Community engagement is at the centre of everything at Pendleside Hospice. Our local community is the backbone of the organisation and a core part of all we do.

Whether you want to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice as part of your community group or organisation, or just find out more about the Hospice through a talk, presentation or tour, we would love to hear from you. We strive to build strong relationships with people of all ages, nationalities, faiths, race and religions, enabling us to work together. Pendleside relies heavily on the amazing support of the local community, with both fundraising and awareness, to ensure that our Hospice continues to provide care for all those who need it in years to come.

Compassionate Communities

Pendleside’s Compassionate Communities brings people together to share knowledge, spark conversations and strengthen support around end‑of‑life care and bereavement. We work with schools, faith settings and community groups, including people who are homeless or vulnerable, to make sure everyone has access to understanding, compassion and practical help. It’s a network built on friendship, collaboration and the belief that local people can make a real difference. By empowering communities in Burnley and Pendle to support one another, we’re helping to build a kinder, more informed place to live. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.

Community Fundraising Groups

Pendleside needs the support of local fundraising groups who can organise their own events throughout the year, to continually raise much needed funds for the Hospice. Formed on area or a common interest, the groups work closely with our Community Engagement Officer, Leah, to plan and carry out exciting fundraising initiatives.

School Colour Run

Schools & Colleges

The support of local schools, colleges and other educational establishments is so important to Pendleside Hospice. Not only do they fund the future of the Hospice, they also educate the next generation on the importance of palliative care, and the role that Pendleside can play in the lives of their families and friends.

Community Support

Football Clubs, Scouts & Brownies, Quiz Teams, Dance Troops, Pubs & Clubs, Rotarians, Choirs, Churches & Mosques, Golf Clubs… you name it, they’re all supporting Pendleside! The dedication we receive from the community spans across so many different types of organisations, and it allows us to continue providing vital care and support to people living in Burnley and Pendle
