The Great Pendleside Trek
Sign UpAbout the event
Following the last three years’ successful Treks, we’re very excited to bring back ‘The Great Pendleside Trek’ for 2026!
Event Details
The circular 35 mile endurance event will take place on Saturday 5th September starting and finishing at Pendleside Hospice.
The Great Pendleside Trek will take in some of Burnley and Pendle’s beautiful countryside, including Pendle Hill and part of the Pendle Way. Participants can choose to run or walk the route. Walkers will set off at 6am and runners will set off at 8am. If you intend to run the route or part of the route, you must set off at 8am. All participants are required to finish no later than 9pm.
Participants have the option to complete the full 35 mile route or finish at either Barley (13 mile) or Laneshawbridge (21 mile) aid stations. The 6 aid stations will be positioned at various points along the route approximately every 5-7 miles (Sabden, Barley, Colne, Wycoller, Thursden Valley and Worsthorne). All participants must check in at each point with staff/volunteers on the day at each aid station.
Please note, participants will need to arrange their own transport to the start point (Pendleside Hospice- limited parking on site available) and from their chosen end point.
The Great Pendleside Trek is not a race and therefore will not be timed. For participants wishing to time themselves we suggest using an app such as Strava, fitness watch etc.
Registration & Fees
Registration will open on Friday 13th March 2026.
- Adults- £30
- Children- £15 (min age 12 years old)
Fundraising
This event is being organised to raise funds in aid of Pendleside Hospice and all participants are encouraged to raise as much as possible. We advise setting up a JustGiving page to make collecting sponsorship hassle free! Click here to start your fundraising – Great Pendleside Trek 2025 – JustGiving
Route & Map
Please see below the links for the full route map, including aid station locations and additional toilet stops. Marshals and/or signage, where necessary, will be in position on the day to assist you. However, as the route covers 35 miles there will be sections where walkers will need to follow the route map. It can be accessed via the below links.
Please note: at 7pm onwards, a new “night route” will be implemented for anyone leaving check point 6 (St John’s Church, Worsthorne) after this time. This route MUST be used as it is the safest way back to the Hospice in the dark.
