Description

Pendleside Hospice is one of the principal providers of palliative and end of life care services to adults in Burnley and Pendle and is held in deep affection by the local community.

All our care is free of charge to our patients and their families and carers but, of course, it isn’t free to provide and most of it is funded through the generosity of the local community in which we serve. In the current year, it will cost over £6.5 million to run Pendleside Hospice, of which over £5.5 million will need to be raised through voluntary donations.

Last year our 9 charity shops in Burnley and Pendle generated a surplus income of over £420,000. This could not have been achieved without the support of our dedicated volunteers, our donors and of course our shoppers.

The role of a Retail Assistant

Volunteering in one of our shops or donation centre is a great way to support your hospice, share your skills and connect with your community.

We have a variety of roles available in our shops all supporting the retail co-ordinator in the day to day running of the shop from customer facing roles dealing with our customers and visual merchandising to back office roles, pricing, sorting and preparing stock and donations.

We also have digital roles in our online retail centre and positions for retail drivers / driver’s mates.

You can commit as little as three hours per week, or more if you are able to- your support would be invaluable to us!

There are many benefits to volunteering including building new friendships, attending social events, gaining work experience, providing much needed support, and of course contributing to an amazing cause! Volunteering is rewarding, enjoyable and a worthwhile way to spend your free time.
