Community Engagement

Community engagement is at the centre of everything at Pendleside Hospice. Our local community is the backbone of the organisation and a core part of all we do.

Whether you want to raise funds for Pendleside Hospice as part of your community group or organisation, or just find out more about the Hospice through a talk, presentation or tour, we would love to hear from you. We strive to build strong relationships with people of all ages, nationalities, faiths, race and religions, enabling us to work together. Pendleside relies heavily on the amazing support of the local community, with both fundraising and awareness, to ensure that our Hospice continues to provide care for all those who need it in years to come.

Empowering our community to help each other

Our Compassionate Communities Group try to find ways to engage with local people in sharing information about end of life care and bereavement support. This takes place through educational settings, faith environments and other community groups such as underrepresented members of the community including the homeless and vulnerable. If you are aware of a group that could benefit from working together with Pendleside’s Compassionate Communities, then please contact us.

Compassionate Communities

Pendleside Hospice’s Compassionate Communities is a network of friendship and collaboration, which aims to bring together different groups to support one another, to share ideas about end of life care and bereavement, and to develop the support that we give to our community. We want to empower people in Burnley and Pendle to make a difference.

Community Fundraising Groups

Pendleside needs the support of local fundraising groups who can organise their own events throughout the year, to continually raise much needed funds for the Hospice. Formed on area or a common interest, the groups work closely with our Community Engagement Officer, Leah, to plan and carry out exciting fundraising initiatives.

Schools & Colleges

The support of local schools, colleges and other educational establishments is so important to Pendleside Hospice. Not only do they fund the future of the Hospice, they also educate the next generation on the importance of palliative care, and the role that Pendleside can play in the lives of their families and friends.

Community Support

Football Clubs, Scouts & Brownies, Quiz Teams, Dance Troops, Pubs & Clubs, Rotarians, Choirs, Churches & Mosques, Golf Clubs… you name it, they’re all supporting Pendleside! The dedication we receive from the community spans across so many different types of organisations, and it allows us to continue providing vital care and support to people living in Burnley and Pendle
