Meals on Wheels Driver or Administration
Pendleside Hospice is one of the principal providers of palliative and end of life care services to adults in Burnley and Pendle and is held in deep affection by the local community.
All our care is free of charge to our patients and their families and carers but, of course, it isn’t free to provide and most of it is funded through the generosity of the local community in which we serve. In the current year, it will cost over £6.5 million to run Pendleside Hospice, of which over £5.5 million will need to be raised through voluntary donations.
In response to the recent COVID pandemic, Pendleside Hospice created a meals on wheels welfare service which proved so valuable to the local people it is now an essential part of our community support.
The role of a Meals on Wheels Driver
Your responsibilities will involve collecting meals from the Hospice and delivering in the local community on the round specified. Whilst you are at each address, you will also carry out a basic welfare check. The time commitment is from 11.30am until approximately 1pm each day; and you can cover as little as one day or several.
You will be reimbursed for the mileage you cover during your round. The administration role would be a shift from 11am-2pm one day per week (including weekends).
There are many benefits to volunteering including building new friendships, attending social events, gaining work experience, providing much needed support, and of course contributing to an amazing cause! Volunteering is rewarding, enjoyable and a worthwhile way to spend your free time.
